Summer in Ontario really is the best, and here in Guelph, there’s so much happening between now and Labour Day. Whether you're looking for something to do with the kids, searching for local treasures, or just want to soak up that summer magic, I’ve rounded up a few standout events that capture the spirit of this amazing city.

August 7 — Guelph Fringe Festival
A full day of creativity featuring theatre, comedy, performance art, and more across venues in the downtown core. If you love supporting the arts, this is a must-see.

August 7 — Ward Night Market at The Boathouse (6 to 10 PM)
Spend a summer evening along the Speed River enjoying live music, delicious eats, and incredible local vendors. A perfect Friday night outing.

August 9 — Mini Makers Market at The Hive
From 11 AM to 3 PM, check out this sweet little market where kids (with some grown-up help) run their own artisan booths. It’s fun, educational, and a great way to support young creators.

Guelph Outdoor Handmade Market
Happening Saturdays throughout August (7, 14, 21, 28) from 11 AM to 3 PM at Royal City Park. This outdoor market features talented local artisans offering handmade art, crafts, and gifts.

August 9 — Guelph Correctional Centre Grounds Tour (11 AM to 12:30 PM)
Ever wondered what the old Guelph jail looks like? Now’s your chance. This guided tour focuses on the architecture and history of the former correctional centre. Book your tour here.
Aberfoyle Antique Market (Sundays: August 10, 17, 24, 31)
Canada’s oldest and largest outdoor antique market is just outside the city. Open from 8 AM to 4 PM every Sunday, it’s a treasure trove of vintage furniture, collectibles, and one-of-a-kind finds.
Make a morning of it: grab a coffee from Kanoo, Sunday Blooms, or Cavan before heading over.
August 22 to 24 — Guelph Ribfest
A true end-of-summer tradition. Enjoy finger-licking ribs, midway rides, live music, a classic car show, community booths, and activities for the whole family. You don’t want to miss it!
August 29 to September 1 — Goods Exchange Weekend
Start purging now! During this community-wide reuse event, residents leave out gently used items for others to take. It’s a great way to give things new life and keep them out of the landfill.
